The Rev. Dr. Robert Gordon Balfour, Edinburgh, was selected by 108 votes to 71 votes for Principle Salmond, Aberdeen. The moderator-elect is a recognized authority in ecclesiastical affairs. He was licensed in 1851. His contributions to the literature of the Church include "Central Truth and Side Issues".
