Francis died 2 December 1900 at 70 years of age.

He married Lucy Henrietta Nugent in St. George's Hanover Square, London, 2 August 1860. Lucy was born in London 1842. Lucy died 19 November 1925 at 83 years of age. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1 Hall Road, Tacolneston, Norfolk, 1871.
