John died 4 March 1910 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, at 68 years of age.

He married Elizabeth Marion Bond 1868. Elizabeth was born in Dublin, Ireland 1846. Elizabeth was the daughter of Mr. Bond. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Overdale Villa, Portsmouth Road, Woolston, Hampshire, 1881.
