1. John¹ Reid was born in Stevenston, Ayrshire, Scotland 2 September 1751. John died 17 March 1810 in Meerut, North Western Province, India, at 58 years of age.

He married Anne Boileau in India, 19 May 1791. Anne was born in Dublin, Ireland 7 November 1769. Anne was the daughter of Solomon Boileau and Dorothea Gladwell. Anne died 21 September 1854 at 84 years of age. She was listed as head of household in the 1851 census in 47 Weymouth Street, Marylebone, London.

John Reid and Anne Boileau had the following children:

+ 2 i. Henry Solomon² Reid was born 16 February 1792.

3 ii. Frances Charlotte Reid was born in Bengal, India 21 March 1793. Frances died 24 April 1862 in Woodcot Rectory, Oxfordshire, at 69 years of age. Her body was interred 1862 in Woodcot Rectory, Oxfordshire. She married George Dempster Mercer in Aligarh, North Western Province, India, 12 September 1810. George was born in Kinwood, Perthshire, Scotland 21 July 1772. George died 7 December 1853 in Edinburgh, at 81 years of age. His body was interred 1853 in Woodcot Rectory, Oxfordshire. He was listed as head of household in the 1841 census in Dryden House, Lasswade, Midlothian. He was listed as head of household in the 1851 census in 14 Moray Place, Edinburgh. John was born in Chirnside, Bewick, Scotland 4 July 1780. John died 13 December 1853 in Edinburgh, at 73 years of age. His body was interred 1853 in Warriston Cemetary, Edinburgh. He was christened in Chirnside, Bewick, Scotland, 16 July 1780. He was listed as head of household in the 1841 census in 4 Ainslie Place, Edinburgh. 5 iv. Sarah Reid was born 27 April 1795. Sarah died 7 May 1795 at less than one year of age.

8 vii. Eliza Reid was born June 1798. Eliza died 13 October 1798 at less than one year of age.

+ 9 viii. Lestock Robert Reid was born 12 August 1799.

+ 10 ix. Charles Samuel Reid was born 20 November 1807.

11 x. George William Edmonstone Reid was born 10 April 1810. George died 14 June 1811 at 1 year of age.
