12. James Hales³ Reid (Henry Solomon², John¹) was born in India 16 December 1822. James died 22 December 1899 at 77 years of age.

He married Eliza Ann Roles in Northumberland, Ontario, 7 May 1863. Eliza was born in Newfoundland, Canada 1834.

He was christened 19 January 1823. He was listed as a resident in the census report in 14 Moray Place, Edinburgh, 1861. Retired from Indian Army (1861).

James Hales Reid and Eliza Ann Roles had the following children:

45 i. Marion M.⁴ Reid was born in Ceylon 1858.

46 ii. Julia Cameron Reid was born in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland 21 June 1859.

47 iii. Archibald H. Reid was born in Scotland 1865. He married an unknown person.

He was listed as head of household in the 1901 census in 37 Cranbury Avenue, Southampton, Hampshire. Yacht Agent (1901). Married to Annie E. b c. 1868 in Holland (1901).

48 iv. Mary Jane H. Reid was born 1870.
