He married three times. He married Charlotte Wintle in Bengal, India, 18 July 1816. Charlotte died 26 November 1820 in Bengal, India. He married Maria Anne Boileau in St. John's, Calcutta, India, 14 August 1822. Maria was the daughter of Simeon Peter Boileau and Hannah De Renzi. He married Elizabeth Barber in Islington, London, 1858. Elizabeth was born in Kennington, London c1833. She was listed as a resident in the census report in 1 Bathwick Terrace, Bathwick, Bath, Somerset, 1871.
He was listed as head of household in the 1871 census in 1 Bathwick Terrace, Bathwick, Bath, Somerset. He worked for the civil service in Calcutta. Attended Haileybury College, 1811-1812. (FIBIS) Career in India 1813 - 1847. In 1812 he was a 2nd class civil servant - a civil and sessions judge West Burdwan, Bancoorah. (The East India Register and Army List) Also he was special commissioner, under Reg 111 of 1828, for Cuttack. (East India Register and Army List for 1845).

Maria was a lodger 1881 in 7 Bayshill Terrace, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. She was listed as head of household in the 1891 census in 43 Conduit Road, Bedford, Bedfordshire. She was listed as head of household in the 1901 census in 24 Eaton Rise, Ealing, Middlesex. Charles King, a clergyman, b c. 1827 in India is listed brother-in-law and as lodging along with Maria in the 1881 census.
