1. Colonel Douglas Forde1 Douglas-Jones was born c1846. Douglas died 3/01/1928 in Worthing, Sussex, at 81 years of age.

He married Fanny B. Caffin 1871. Fanny was born in Southsea, Hampshire c1846. Fanny was the daughter of Sir James Crawford Caffin and Frances Brouncker Atfield. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Vanbrugh Lodge, Vanbrugh Fields, Greenwich, 1861.

His funeral was held in Charlton Cemetary, Woolwich, 6/01/1928. From The Times, January 6, 1928

Colonel Douglas Forde Douglas-Jones, who died at Worthing on Tuesday, in his 82nd year, entered the Royal Artillery in 1866 from the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. In 1878 he passed with distinction through the Staff College, the Commandant, General Sir Edward Hamley, especially selecting him for employment in 1879 on the International Commission for the Delimination of the Bulgarian Frontier, of which he was also appointed secretary. Afterwards he was a Professor of Military History, and wrote several treatises on tactics and other subjects. These works elicited an expression of thanks for their usefulness from Lord Roberts, who was then in India.

Colonel Douglas-Jones served under Lord Roberts and Sir Evelyn Wood on the Headquarters Staff at the War Office. He was on the staff from 1878 until his retirement in 1903, when he devoted himself to the spiritual welfare of the Army. He became chairman of both the Army Scripture Readers' Society and the London City Mission. In 1871 Colonel Douglas-Jones married Fanny, eldest daughter of the late Admiral Sir Crawford Caffin, K.C.B. : she survives him. The funeral will be at Charlton Cemetary, Woolwich, at noon to-day.

The marriage took place yesterday at the parish church, Llangollen, of Major Stanley Douglas Douglas-Jones, R.A., of Rhosynwst, Glyndyfrdwy, youngest son of the late Colonel D. F. Douglas-Jones, R.A., and the late Mrs. Douglas-Jones, and Miss Priscilla Scarlett Smith, eldest daughter of the Rev. Sidney and Mrs. Scarlett Smith, of Dinbren Hall, near Llangollen. The bride's father officiated, assisted by the Rev. W. Alcuin Jones and the Rev. D. C. Davies.

The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. S. L. Scarlett Smith, wore a dress of rose-coloured angora, with a silver-fox fur (the gift of her godmother, Mrs. Luard), and a small, black felt hat, trimmed with fur to match. She wore also a diamond star pendant (a gift from the bridegroom) and a spray of red rose-buds. Lieutenant-Colonel R. P. Varwell, R.A., was best man.

There was no reception, on account of the war.
