1. John¹ Lumsden was born c1761.

He married Magdalene Friell in Bengal, India, 7 December 1793. Magdalene was born 31 March 1772. Magdalene was the daughter of Peter Friell and Anne Charlotte Boileau. Magdalene died 4 February 1845 in The Elms, Hornsey, at 72 years of age.

John Lumsden and Magdalene Friell had the following children:

2 i. John William Edmonstone² Lumsden was born in Calcutta, Bengal, India 19 October 1800. John died 27 July 1801 at less than one year of age. He was christened in Calcutta, Bengal, India, 7 December 1800.

3 ii. Eliza Henrietta Lumsden was born in Cushney, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 3 December 1804. Eliza died 24 April 1873 in Pitmeddon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at 68 years of age. She married three times. She married an unknown person 1 July 1822. She married John Peter Wilson 1 July 1822. John was born 20 May 1791. John was the son of Lestock Wilson and Bonne Boileau. John died 7 January 1832 at 40 years of age. (See John Peter Wilson for the continuation of this line.) She married Sir William Coote Seton 26 November 1834. Sir was born in Pitmeddon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 19 December 1808. Sir died 30 December 1880 in Scotland, at 72 years of age. 4 iii. Alicia Isabella Lumsden was born in Calcutta, Bengal, India 5 June 1805. She married Edward Simeon Hawkins in St. George's, Bloomsbury, London, 22 June 1826. Edward was born in Cawnpore, Oudh, India 5 December 1796. Edward was the son of Thomas Hawkins and Elizabeth Friell. He was christened in Cawnpore, Oudh, India, 10 January 1797. She was christened in Calcutta, Bengal, India, 12 October 1805.

5 iv. Sophia Mary Lumsden was born in Calcutta, Bengal, India 1 July 1807. She was christened in Calcutta, Bengal, India, 12 October 1807. Sophia was visiting 1851 in 9 Idol Lane, London. She was listed as a resident in the census report in The Vicarage, Barkway, Hertfordshire, 1861.

6 v. Reverend Henry Thomas Lumsden was born in India 1809. Henry died 1867 in St. Giles, London, at 58 years of age. He married Susanna Edmonstone in Trinity Church, Marylebone, London, 30 April 1832. Susanna was born in Calcutta, Bengal, India 21 March 1808. Susanna was the daughter of Neil Benjamin Edmonstone and Charlotte Anne Friell. Susanna died 1886 in Marylebone, London, at 78 years of age. She was christened 18 April 1808. She was listed as a resident in the census report in Austin Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, 1851. Susanna was visiting 1861 in Walton Villa, Clifton, Somerset. Susanna was visiting 1881 in Belgrave Crescent, Tormoham, Devon.

7 vi. Lydia Edmonstone Lumsden was born in Calcutta, Bengal, India 9 January 1810. Lydia died 1879 in Hastings, Sussex, at 69 years of age. She married Robert Samuel Battiscombe in St Dunstans in the East, London, 14 January 1851. Robert was born in Windsor, Berkshire 6 March 1799. Robert died 1881 in Royston, Hertfordshire, at 82 years of age. He was christened in Clewer, Berkshire, 13 April 1799. He was listed as head of household in the 1841 census in The Vicarage, Barkway, Hertfordshire. Robert was visiting 1851 in 9 Idol Lane, London. He was listed as head of household in the 1861 census in The Vicarage, Barkway, Hertfordshire.
