He married Wilhelmina Charlotte Hughes 19/10/1852. Wilhelmina was born in Stoke Damerel, Devonshire 1832. Wilhelmina was the daughter of Reverend Henry Alright Hughes. Wilhelmina died 13/12/1911 at 79 years of age. She was listed as head of household in the 1901 census in 13 Jesmond Road, Clevedon, Somerset.

General Sir George Malcolm, G.C.B., Bombay Staff Corps, died yesterday at his residence, Guysdale, Leamington. He was the son of Mr. David Malcolm, a merchant of Bombay, and was born in 1818. He was educated at Addiscombe, and entered the Bombay Army in 1836. He served as Deputy-Assistant Commissary-General and Baggage Master with the Bombay Division of the Army of the Indus in the campaign of Afghanistan in 1838-39, and was present at the capture of Ghuzni (medal) and occupation of Kabul. He commanded the outposts of the Sind Irregular Horse in Eastern Kutchi from 1840 to 1842, and was constantly engaged in active operations against the Hill Beluchis. He commanded a detachment of Sind Irregular Horse at the battle of Nuffoosk on August 31, 1840, in the Eastern Kutchi Hills, and served with the Sind Horse in the operations against Nassur Khan of Khelat in 1840-41, including the affair at Kunda and the action near Dadur, when Mir Nussur Khan with the whole of the Brahoere army was drawn from his position and his camp taken. He served with the Sind Horse during Sir Charles Napier's campaign in 1844-45. He commanded headquarters 2nd Regiment Sind Horse and a detachment of the 1st Sind Horse with the Bombay column in the Punjab campaign of 1846-49, including the siege and surrender of Multan, the battle of Gujarat, the pursuit and surrender of the Sikh army, and the occupation of Peshawar (medal with two clasps and brevet of major). He commanded a detachment of the Southern Mahratta Horse in Persia in 1857. He commanded the field detachment of the Southern Mahratta Horse and two companies of the 28th Bombay N.I., which stormed and captured Hulgullee on November 30, 1857. He commanded the field force in the operations against Shorapur, which ended in the occupation of the fortress on February 9, 1858. He commanded the field force in the operations against the rebel chief of Nurgoond, which ended in the capture of the town and fortress on June 1, 1858 (C.B. and medal). He commaned a division in the Abyssinian War in 1867-68 (received the thanks of Parliament, K.C.B., and medal). He was promoted to be colonel in 1860, major-general in 1867, lieutenant-general in 1875, and general in 1877. He was placed on the unemployed supernumary list in 1881, and promoted to be G.C.B. in 1886. Sir George Malcolm married in 1853 Wilhelmina Charlotte, daughter of the Rev. Henry Alright Hughes.
