A joint meeting of the standing committee of the United Free Church of
Scotland was held in Edinburgh yesterday to nominate a successor to
Dr. George Robson in the Moderatorship of the Church. The Rev. Dr.
Robert Gordon Balfour, Edinburgh, was selected by 108 votes to 71
votes for Principle Salmond, Aberdeen. The moderator-elect is a
recognized authority in ecclesiastical affairs. He was licensed in
1851. His contributions to the literature of the Church include
"Central Truth and Side Issues".
