James Leslie Balfour-Melville ^351,361

  General Notes:

Educated at Brighton Grammar School, he enlisted in the 1st Australian Imperial Forces serving as a driver in the 101st Howitzer Battery but was wounded twice at Ypres and Menin Gate in 1917. He was sent first to Rouen then Reading and finally Weymouth before going to London to join the Pay Corps, but was again hospitalized before returning to Australia in 1918 on the transport "Gaika". He studied accountancy and practiced with his father in the firm of Balfour - Melville & Son.

James married Catherine Ethel MacVean in 1927. (Catherine Ethel MacVean died in 1963.)
