Archbishop of York. In June 1830, his cousin, William Harcourt, third Earl Harcourt, died leaving him his estates so as a consequence he changed his name to Harcourt.
Edward married Anne Leveson-Gower, daughter of Granville Leveson-Gower, 1st Marquis of Stafford and Unknown, on 5 February 1784 in St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London. (Anne Leveson-Gower was born in 1761 and died on 16 November 1832 in Bishopthorpe Palace, York.)
