General Notes: RMS Leinster was a vessel operated by the City of Dublin Steam Packet Company and served as the Kingstown- Holyhead mailboat until she was torpedoed and sunk by German submarine UB-123 on 10 October 1918, while bound for Holyhead. She went down just outside Dublin Bay at a point four miles (6 km) east of the Kish Light. Over 500 people perished in the sinking \emdash the greatest single loss of life in the Irish Sea. Noted events in her life were: 1. Resided: 10 October 1918, 13 St. Peter's Square, Hammersmith, London. 13 2. She had an estate probated on 13 February 1919 in London. 13 |
