Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Barrows Household died suddenly at Hove on July 3 at the age of 67. Son of R. Henry Household, of Bilney House, Norfolk, he was educated at Shrewsbury, where he was in School House from 1885 to 1889. After passing through Sandhurst he joined The Dorsetshire Regiment, and fought throughout the South African War, being present at the Relief of Ladysmith and at Spion Kop. After the war he transferred to the Royal Army Pay Corps, and on the outbreak of the Great War in 1914 he went out to France with the Expeditionary Force as field cashier to the staff of the 5th Division under Sir Charles Fergusson. Later he was sent to Headquarters at Rouen. he was twice mentioned in dispatches and was gazetted brevet lieutenant-colonel in 1917. After the Armistice he returned to Dublin, remaining there until the creation of the Irish Free State in 1922, when he was sent to Hamilton. Soon afterwards he was appointed to the Record and Pay Office in Chatham. He was in charge here until he retired in 1924 for family reasons on being ordered to join the Army of Occupation at Cologne. Soon afterwards he was re-employed by the War Office and continued to serve until 1935. In 1910 he married Aileen Edith Moore, younger surviving daughter of the late Major-General Arthur Thomas Moore, C.B., V.C., the hero of the charge of the 3rd Bombay Light Calvalry upon the Persian squares at the Battle of Khooshab on February 7, 1857, and one of the first holders of the Victoria Cross. He survived by his widow and two sons.

Henry married Aileen Edith Moore, daughter of Major General Arthur Thomas Moore and Annie Prentice, on 3 June 1909. (Aileen Edith Moore was born on 24 November 1877.)
