Dr. Margaret Boileau

Dr. Margaret Lucy Augusta Boileau died at a Norwich nursing home on Monday. She was the second surviving child and only daughter of the late Sir Francis Manningham Boileau, of Ketteringham Park, Norfolk, and sister of the present baronet, and was born on July 18, 1867. She was a student at the London School of Medicine for Women, and qualified as M.B., B.S. Lond., in 1906. She served for a time as clinical assistant at the out-patient department of the New Hospital for Women, and for over four years practised at Ravenscourt Park, with a dispensary in Great Windmill Street, W.
Much of Dr. Boileau's life was devoted to philanthropic and social work, and during the war she did valuable service. For a time she was acting house surgeon at the Jenny Lind Hospital for Children in the absence of the resident medical officer, and also commandant of the V.A.D. Hospital at Swainsthorpe. For several years during and after the war she worked at the infant welfare clinics of the Norwich Corporation, also carrying on health propaganda among women and girls. The Hellesdon Mental Hospital, the Girl Guide Movement, the Church Missionary Society, and the Young Women's Christian Association also had her active support. An ardent but not militant, suffragist, she had of late years sympathized with the aims of the Labour Party.
