  General Notes:

Edmonstone, who had arrived in Calcutta as an East India Compan writer in 1783, had begun a family with an unknown bibi in the 1790s. Three sons and a daughter born in the late 1790s and early 1800s were given the surname Elmore and sent to England to be fostered by thebsister of a friend in the East India Company. Edmonstone married

Neil next married Charlotte Anne Friell, daughter of Peter Friell and Anne Charlotte Boileau, on 19 December 1803 in Calcutta, Bengal, India. (Charlotte Anne Friell was born on 18 April 1777 and died on 18 March 1838.)
