bullet  General Notes:

He joined the British Forces in New York in October 1776 at the start
of the revolutionary war. His family followed him and in early 1777
they moved to Lloyd's Neck, Long Island, New York to join other
loyalist families. On 5 June 1778 the Stratford estate was
confiscated by the rebels and the family lost their land and
possessions. King George III granted, to all loyalists who did not
want to return home, two hundred acres of land and provisions for two
years in New Brunswick, then a part of Nova Scotia. Following the
peace of 1783 the family sailed for New Brunswick. They landed at
Parr Town on the east side of St. John during the early summer of
1783. They took up residence in Maugerville, above Parr Town on the
St. John River.
