After receiving his M.A. depgree he became an ordained Priest. Succeeded his father as Rector of St. Mildred's, Canterbury (1637-1654). ¹⁰⁹⁰

Richard married Elizabeth Hales, daughter of Bennet Hales and Unknown, on 13 April 1640.¹¹²¹ (Elizabeth Hales was born c 1622 ¹¹²¹.)
