Educated at New College, Oxford. Died without issue and bequeathed the most of his property, among which was the manor and advowson of Heanton Punchardon, and the manor of Umberleigh, to his nephew, Joseph Davie, Esq. of Watermouth, who in compliance with the will of this uncle, has assumed the name of Bassett.
