Rector of Checkendon, Oxfordshire.

Previously to the 16th century this family was seated in
Staffordshire. One of the Staffordshire house, Sir Hugh Hamersley,
settling in London, was president of Christ's Hospital, and became
lord mayor of London, 1627. From him is supposed to descend this line
of Hamersley's.

Samuel married Anne Alleine in 1765. (Anne Alleine died in 1767.)
