Mr. Hugh Hamersley, of Pyrton Manor, Oxfordshire, formerly High
Sheriff of that county, died on Sunday, at Southsea. The deceased was
the second son of the late Mr. Hugh Hamersley, of Pyrton Manor, and of
Sandgate, Kent, by his marriage with Margaret, daughter of Mr. John
Bevan, of Clifton, and was born in 1813. He was educated at Harrow
and at Trinity College, Cambridge; was a magistrate and
deputy-lieutenant for Oxfordshire, and formerly Chairman of Quarter
Sessions for that county. He served as High Sheriff in 1840. Mr.
Hamersley married, in 1825, Mary Anne, daughter of Mr. John Phillips,
of Culham, Oxon, and was left a widower in 1877.

(Gertrude Anne Holmes à Court was born on 8 April 1847 in Westover, Isle of Wight, christened on 9 May 1847 in Calbourne, Isle of Wight and died on 1 September 1933 in Eastleigh, Hampshire ¹³.)

Hugh next married Phillippa Mary Anne Phillips, daughter of John Shawe Phillips and Unknown, on 2 June 1835. (Phillippa Mary Anne Phillips was born in 1812 in Culham, Oxfordshire and died on 21 February 1877 in 32 Onslow Gardens, Kensington, London ¹³.)
