Born: 25 March 1792Died: 26 July 1814, River Hamble aged 22 General Notes:
MP for Newport, Isle of Wight.
Inscription found in Arreton Church, Arreton, Isle of Wight:

To the Memory fo Richard Fleming Worsley Holmes Esq.,
second son of the Reverend Henry Worsley Holmes Bart. and
the Honourable Lady Worsley Holmes. One of the representatives in
Parliament for the borough of Newport in this island. Who was
unfortunately drowned in the river Hamble on the 26th day of July
1814 aged 22 years. Called to the bosom of his creator when he had
just entered upon the career of a promising and useful life. This
fate affords him an impressive example of the uncertainty of all
worldly hopes. Benevelent generous and sincere the accomplishments
that adorned and the virtues that exalted his character endeared him
alike to the affections of his friends and the hearts of his family.
The tears that a weeping multitude shed over his grave were a
well-merited and expressive tribute to the worth of his excellence
 and character.
