  General Notes:

He graduated MD at Edinburgh in 1834 and in 1836 entered the Army
Medical Service. In 1840 - 1848 he was Assistant Surgeon in the
Grenadier Guards. Was Assistant Surgeon in Croydon Barracks in 1841.
He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1859, and in 1860 was
made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London. In 1887
he was appointed Hon. Physician to the Queen. He became
Surgeon-General in 1873, when he was placed in charge at Netley.

2. He appeared on the census in 1841 in Croydon Barrack, Croydon, Surrey.

3. He appeared on the census on 30 March 1851 in Royal Military Asylum For Children, Chelsea.

5. Census UK 1871: 1871, 10 Sumner Place, Kensington, London.

6. He retired in 1876.

7. Census UK 1881: 1881, Coombe Lodge, Inner Park Road, Wandsworth.

8. He had an estate probated on 11 February 1891 in Principal Registry.

Thomas married Georgina Prentice, daughter of George Prentice and Eliza Jane Kidd, on 31 July 1856 in St. Gabriels, Pimlico, London. (Georgina Prentice was born on 12 August 1819 in Ireland, died on 16 December 1888 and was buried in 1888 in Woking Necropolis.)
