Assistant Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for the Precinct of St. Andrew and St. Joseph, 1683; Major of the militia, afterwards Colonel, 1689. Later Lieutenant General in the Island. Member of the Assembly for St. Andrew, 1685 and member for St. James, 1686-1701. He was Speaker in 1690. He owned a large amount of property in Barbados. In 1666 he purchased from his stepfather, John Turner of St. Philip, for £5728 sterling one half share of a plantation in the parish of St. Andrew of 421 acres, which included "a moiety of all houses, buildings, mill, mill works, cattle and assenegoes". This plantation is said to be the family estate known as Mount Alleyne in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Abel Alleyne left a will which was not recorded. He servived his wife less than a year. 180

Abel married Elizabeth Denzy, daughter of Thomas Denzy and Unknown, on 12 October 1666 in St. John, Barbados.174 (Elizabeth Denzy was born in 1652 in Barbados 174, christened on 27 July 1652 in Barbados, died on 25 September 1705 in St. James, Barbados and was buried in 1705 in St. James Church, Barbados.)
